There is a button to show password on Windows 8, 8.1’s logon screen and also on internet explorer. In internet explorer when you tries to sign-in to any of your account including gmail, you see an EYE button in the right side of your password field.

Not only in Gmail, but also everywhere you are going to login including yahoo mail, outlook, facebook and other accounts, it will show this “show password” button.

But here is problem with this feature; if you are using computer in office or any other public place then anybody can see your password by suddenly clicking on this password reveal button.

This button increases the risk of password leakage, especially for beginners.

Step 1: Simply open the run dialogue box and type and hit this command there “gpedit.msc” without quotes. It will open group policy editor of your Windows 8/8.1.

gpedit.mscStep 2: In the group policy editor’s window, from the left hand side pane, click the drop-down button of “Administrative Templates” or double click on it. After clicking, it will show a drop down list.

Step 3: Again double click on “Windows Components” option available in the drop down list, now it will show another list of Windows components.

Step 5: Double-click on “Do not display the password reveal button”, just after clicking on it, a pop-up window will appear to enable or disable this functionality. Select the option of enable and you are done.
