Although Microsoft has introduced the Skype as a default application in Windows 8.1 and the users do not need to download and install this application from websites, but some users are not satisfied with the default application Skype and they still want to use this application in the Desktop app mode. Steps to Download and Install Skype for Desktop in Windows 8.1

Step 1: Click here to download the “Desktop version of Skype” you are looking for.

Step 2: Once you have downloaded the “.exe” file of “Skype”, you need to double-click the file to begin the process of installation. It will show you a few steps including your consent to install the application. Once you click install, the system will start the installation of “Skype” for you.

Right-click on it to show the options at the bottom of your screen. You will see “Pin to Start” in the options appearing at the bottom.
