These SEO techniques, I am going to share, will take time to show their effect and these techniques will benefit you in the long-term.
#1: Where you should add your Keywords?
Adding keywords in content is a signal for Googlebot, that your website has content related to that keyword. Below are some places where you should add your keywords, but do not spam with keywords, otherwise get ready to have a hit by Google Panda.
Your keyword in the page’s title: Add your desired keyword in the page’s title and according to SEO experts, Google gives weight to the very first word in the title tag.
So add your keyword first in the title and then add other words in it. For example, if your keyword is “cheap tickets” then below are the right and wrong ways to create a title.
Wrong: “Excellent portal to get cheap International flight’s tickets”
Right: “Cheap Tickets Booking for International Flights”
Keyword in URL, H1, H2, H3 and description; After adding keyword in the title, add your desired keyword in the meta description of your page. Also the addition of your keyword in URL and headings, may also boost your rank in search results.
Keyword in Content: It is not essential to add keyword in every paragraph of your content, but you should add it 2 to 3 times. The important thing is that, you should add your keyword in the first 85 words of your content or in your first paragraph, It will tell the crawler immediately that your content is related to your title.
#2: Content Presentation:
Presenting your content in front of your users is an art. If you know this, then you can engage your visitors with your content. The content liked by users, automatically gets good rank in search results.
Formatting of content: Your content’s layout must be clean, eye-catching and easy to read. Use bullets, short paragraphs and headings.
If you are using long paragraphs, then the attention of your visitors can be distracted, because nobody loves to read content in thick amount, they’ll open the page and leave it immediately after seeing long paragraphs.
Length: Experts’ analysis shows that long article, gets better rank in search engines as compared to short articles. Because large content has more information, as compared to short one.
Addition of media: Google gives higher ranking to those contents, which has related pictures, videos and infographics in them. Because these can make things easier for readers to understand.
#3: Site Structure, Loading Speed and Hosting + Domain name:
Site Structure & Loading speed: Your whole website must be clean from coding errors and should be free from html errors. You can check coding errors by using w3c validator.
Also, Google undertakes the factor of page size and page loading speed. Slow loading and huge sized pages and websites automatically down ranked in Google.
Webhosting and Domain Name: Choose a good webhosting whom’s uptime is 100% in reality and also it is fast and reliable. Slow loading websites with huge downtime are hated by Google and can be penalized by panda.
Choose a domain name, which defines your blog’s authority. For example, my domain name is “Techzend” and from the name you can get the idea that, it is about technology and gadgets.
Minor addition: Keep your domain’s Whois information correct and visible to the general public and also show the same information on your contact us page. By this Google can trust you more, because you aren’t hiding yourself from your users.
#4: Stop Copying and Focus Quality:
Duplicate content: Google wouldn’t rank your website’s content in any keywords, if you are copy pasting other’s content or trying to spin them. Google panda deals with it and your web will simply throw out of top searches in a few days.
Internal duplicate content: Not only scrapped content of other websites, but also similar pages of your own web is also considered duplicate content as well.
Use canonical tags for similar pages to tell Google about similarity in them. If the pages aren’t similar but seems duplicate, then use the breadcrumbs on your pages. See below for more details:
If you have 2 pages and their URLs are like this: (example.com/company/pepsi and example.com/product/pepsi) then you can differentiate between them with the use of breadcrumbs. See the below breadcrumbs’ image:
Normally webmasters use these breadcrumbs to make navigation easier for visitors. But Google uses it to differentiate similar pages and shows this navigation in the search, to explain user about this page’s category and content. Below is an example of breadcrumbs and its look in Google search.
See the below image that what Google says about breadcrumbs on its official blog:
Tip: Even do not set same titles and descriptions for different pages, it can also harm your search rank.
