Connectify Allows you to Create “Ad Hoc” Wireless Connection in Windows 8.1

The ad hoc wireless connection is basically used for sharing internet connection. It is one of the most popular features of Windows 7 that can be used by the people who are surfing the internet by using data card. It can be equally beneficial for sharing important audio and video files and for playing various multi-player games.

The users who have recently upgraded from Windows 7/8 to 8.1 will notice that there are no ad hoc WI-Fi connections available in it. They will not find the user interface to set up their ad hoc connection in the Network and Sharing Center.

It leaves the users in dismay because they do not expect the missing of some important features in Windows 8.1. Yet! It is still possible to create an ad hoc connection in Windows 8.1 by using a wonderful third-party tweak that is known as Connectify.

There may be dozens of software for this purpose, but some of them may not work with Windows 8.1. Connectify is an amazing software that works very well with Windows 8.1.

Steps to follow for Creating Ad hoc Wireless Connection in Windows 8.1

You just need to follow a few steps to convert your PC into a WI-Fi router and the procedure of creating ad hoc wireless connection does not take much of your time. So, let’s begin.

Step 1: To begin, you need to click here to download “Connectify”.

Step 2: Once, you have done with the downloading of the software, you need to install it by following the instructions appearing on your screen.

setup connectifyStep 3: Connectify window appears before you where you just need to add a hotspot name and password to create an ad hoc connection as it can be seen in the image below. Click on the option “Start Hotspot” that lies at the bottom of the page. The below hotspot’s name is “Connectify-TechZend’.

connectingStep 5: Bingo! Connectify has successfully turned your PC into a WI-Fi router and you can share your internet and can use it for sharing files as well. You can assign it a name if you want so.

connectify-techzendEdited: From my users’ comments, I have seen that many are complaining that this ad-hoc connection isn’t working on their devices including Android phones. I have tested this connection on my Galaxy S3 mini and it’s working awesome. I have read that many Android phones do not support ad-hoc connections, created by tools like connectify.
